Clubmark

In August 2022, Essex County Cricket Board’s Development Officer carried out an assessment of our procedures and performance under Club Mark Status and has formally recognised our ongoing commitment to being a safe, effective and child friendly cricket club. By maintaining the high standards offered by Chelmsford Cricket Club, we have achieved Clubmark re-accreditation for a further three years!!

The document links below cover Chelmsford CC's Clubmark Status, Clubmark Certificate, Club Constitution including "Code of Conduct", and Policies.

The Club also has a Club Development Plan, setting out the Club's facilities, resources, coaching, aspirations and planned projects to be carried out over a three year period. The current Development Plan period runs from 2022 - 2025 as attached document, which is reviewed and updated annually as part of our ECB Clubmark accreditation.

If you have any queries about Clubmark, then please contact Andrew Shepherd, his details can be found on the Officials page.

Club Kit

Orders for club kit can be made via a dedicated website at:

If you have difficulties with orders or deliveries please contact the supplier but also inform any member of the committee so that we are aware of any patterns.

Chelmsford Cricket Club is proud to announce an exciting opportunity offered to the Club by the Jack Petchey Foundation; an Essex based Charity that provides funding to organisations with young members aged between 11 and 25.

Awards are made to nominated winners each year with each award amounting to £200. However, before you get the wrong idea this award is to be spent on the Club rather than the winner.

With this Achievement Award Scheme, it is the young members who vote and tell us who they think should be a winner. This does not have to be just for outstanding performances on the field but could be for a member who does good work off it.

In addition to nominating the winner, it is the members who decide how the cash award will be spent. There are guidelines to how the award can be spent.

For your information, the Foundations website is www.jackpetcheyfoundation.org.uk which gives further advice and guidance on the Scheme.

Women's and Girls

Welcome to the Chelmsford CC Women and Girls Section.
Our aim is to provide a safe, fun environment where women and girls, of all ages and abilities, can learn to play cricket, whilst having fun, making friends and keeping fit!

History
In 2014 Chelmsford CC established a girls’ section, affectionately known as the “Willows”, which has grown with the popularity and demand for female cricket over the past few years. Starting with softball practice and tournaments, we offer a full range of summer and winter cricket opportunities from beginners to experienced players, covering reception to year 11 (ages 5-16).

Whilst there is still much to do to grow the female game, our increasing success on the pitch; word-of-mouth; advertising and through excellent links with the Essex County Women and Girls Development team, the girls section has grown sustainably, with opportunities to play at Under 9’s, 11’s, 13’s and 15’s.

Cricket on Offer
We have a wide range of girls at all ages, who play a mixture of soft-ball and hard-ball matches and tournaments, whatever they are comfortable with.

The girls can play for multiple teams in a number of competitions, including: CECPG Under 11 and 13 leagues where we play ‘girls only’ teams in the boys league. We were also one of the founder members of the west essex girls friendly league, now replaced by the ever-expanding Essex Girls League, which now boasts 17 Mid-Essex Clubs playing regular girls hardball cricket.

There’s as much or as little cricket as your daughter would like – and we train all year round! General (softball) training is held on Friday nights during the summer at Chelmer Park, plus we train during the winter months too in sports halls in central Chelmsford. Our ‘girls only’ hardball squad practice night is Mondays at Chelmer Park.

Our Links to Representative and League Cricket
We are extremely fortunate that a number of our girls have been selected to represent Essex at various age groups and levels, spread across the Eagles Nests (Under 11 development squads) and performance teams at Under 13 and Under 15 age groups and the MCC representative squads.

Our cricket pathway also provides for hardball cricket at senior level, both within the Hamro Foundation adult leagues and Women’s Leagues. In 2023 we participated in the Anytickets Friday Night T20 (South) Division 1 and the inaugural Women’s Essex Premier League Division 2, finishing a credible 2nd place. The Chelmsford CC Women’s team is a work in progress and we are always looking for new members!

Who to contact
If you are interested in more information about the Willows then please contact Andrew Shepherd as per email on Club Officials page, whether you are interested in playing yourself, or you are interested for your daughter, whatever age she is.
