About Women & Girls

Established in 2014, Chelmsford Cricket Club offer recreational and competitive cricket for women and girls of all ages and abilities. Our 'all female teams' play under the name of Chelmsford Willows and we currently have competitive teams playing in U11, U13, U15 and we have a womens team planning to rejoin the hardball cricket league on Friday nights.

Starting with a beginner's group playing softball, we offer introductory cricket for all ages under 12 where the girls develop cricket skills at their own pace during both the summer season and winter (indoor) training. In addition, we run hardball training for women and girls during the summer season for those who can demonstrate the skills and confidence to play hardball (own batting equipment is recommended but not essential as everything can be provided by the Club).

Subject to numbers, Chelmsford Willows "girls only" teams are entered into both local and national ECB competitions each summer, with successful campaigns and trophies won by the girls in the CECPG leagues in 2017 & 2022, plus the girls were crowned U13 Essex Softball Champions in 2024!

As previously noted, we are excited that we have a Chelmsford Willows women's team who have applied to rejoin the 11+Teacher Friday night T20 league (matches played from early May to mid-July) for the forthcoming 2026 season.
