About Women & Girls

Established in 2014, Chelmsford Cricket Club offer recreational and competitive cricket for women and girls of all ages and abilities. Our 'all female teams' play under the name of Chelmsford Willows and we currently have competitive teams playing in U11, U13, U15 and women's hardball cricket leagues.

Starting with a beginner's group playing softball, we offer introductory cricket for all ages under 12 where the girls develop cricket skills at their own pace during both the summer season and winter (indoor) training. In addition, we run hardball training for women and girls during the summer season for those who can demonstrate the skills and confidence to play hardball (own batting equipment is recommended but not essential as everything can be provided by the Club). Subject to numbers, Chelmsford Willows "girls only" teams are entered into both local and national ECB competitions each summer, with successful campaigns and trophies won by the girls in the CEDCB leagues in 2017 & 2022, plus regional winners in the U13 and U15 ECB competitions last year.

The Chelmsford Willows women's team play in the Anytickets Friday night T20 league (matches played from early May to late July) and for the 2023 season we have entered the newly created Division 2 of the Essex Womens Sunday League (Sunday afternoons from late May to early September).

In the 2022 season, we had 45 girls registered with the Club to play cricket, so if you (or your daughter) are interested in playing cricket at whatever level, then you are welcome to contact us through our Club's website for further information.
